5 Easy Weight Loss Tips for the New Year!
Getting Your Health Back on Track After the Holidays
If you’ve gained weight over the holidays you are not alone! Start the New Year off right with a plan for gradual, healthy weight loss. You do not need to go to extreme measures to meet your weight loss goals. We promise!
Here are 5 easy tips to get you started:
1. DRINK MORE WATER.
Eight cups of water a day can curb your appetite. Water also keeps things moving in your digestive system and helps relieve constipation.
2. BALANCE OUT THE CARBOHYDRATES, PROTEINS, AND FATS IN YOUR DIET.
Aim to include a lean protein like fish, chicken or legumes, and a small portion of starch (3/4 cup at most). Include at least 1 to 2 cups of vegetables and some healthy fat at each meal.
3. EAT BREAKFAST WITHIN AN HOUR OF WAKING UP AND THEN EAT AGAIN EVERY 4 to 5 HOURS.
This meal pattern regulates your blood sugar levels and keeps your appetite in check. Don’t cut calories below 1000 calories a day. Doing so forces your body into “conservation mode”. You’ll end up burning fewer calories, just what you don’t want..
4. BEGIN OR MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM.
Taking a walk for 30 minutes daily will boost both your mental and physical health.
5. MAINTAIN A POSITIVE MIND SET.
And you will be on your way to a healthier you for 2017!
