What’s Nutritional Medicine?
Once upon a time nutritional diseases evoked visions of toothless British sailors who lacked vitamin C (Scurvy). Or perhaps children walking on bowed legs due to rickets from Vitamin D deficiency.
Because vitamins were discovered circa 1905, these “traditional” nutritional diseases have become rare. Instead we now confront a more insidious and lethal epidemic. It’s an epidemic of “modern nutritional diseases”. These include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity and Alzheimer’s disease as well. Nutritional Medicine is the science of their cause, prevention and treatment.
The modern nutritional diseases are not the result of deficiencies. They ae the result of excess. Driven by decades of misguided dietary policies, we now consume too many calories, sugars and other refined carbohydrates.
Modern nutritional diseases are preventable and treatable through the use of sound dietary interventions. We are entering an era of a “New Nutrition.” It’s a science that views obesity as a disease, and sugar as a greater health concern than cholesterol and fat.
So, who needs Nutritional Medicine? You do, if:
• You have diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension.
• You, or a family member, need to lose weight.
• You have a family history of diabetes or heart disease.
• You just want to “eat healthy”
Every human has the capacity to change. Every day you can open a new chapter in your life embracing new concepts in nutrition and lifestyle leading to health and longevity.
We can show you how!
